2025–26 AIME Qualifying Thresholds Released

Read about the MAA's AIME cutoffs for the 2025 AMC 10 and AMC 12 competitions.

The Mathematical Association of America (MAA) has finalized scores from the 2025 AMC 10 and AMC 12 and released the official qualifying thresholds for the 2025–26 American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME), along with distinction cutoffs.

AIME Qualification Cutoffs

  • AMC 10A: 105
  • AMC 10B: 99
  • AMC 12A: 96
  • AMC 12B: 100.5

Distinction and Honor Roll of Distinction Cutoffs

  • AMC 10A: 112.5 (Distinction), 136.5 (Honor Roll)
  • AMC 10B: 105 (Distinction), 133.5 (Honor Roll)
  • AMC 12A: 127.5 (Distinction), 150 (Honor Roll)
  • AMC 12B: 127.5 (Distinction), 145.5 (Honor Roll)

The AMC 12A Honor Roll cutoff was set at a perfect score this year. Overall, AMC 12 thresholds remain lower for AIME qualification than AMC 10, continuing a trend observed in recent cycles.

What this means for students

These thresholds provide useful context for students assessing their performance relative to qualification and distinction benchmarks. For students near the cutoff, this information can help guide next steps as they transition from AMC-style multiple-choice problem solving to AIME’s proof-free but deeper, time-intensive format.

The AIME I will be administered on February 5, 2026, with AIME II offered on February 11, 2026 as an alternate date. Qualified students may sit for only one of the two exams. Combined AMC and AIME performance will later determine eligibility for the USAJMO and USAMO.
